One of the more common refrains as the source of the world’s problems is that there are too many people. This is easy to understand, because on the surface, life in the more densely populated regions of the world does support this point of view. The masses huddle in big cities, and resources in those cities, countries or regions can become scarce.
But does this mean the world is overpopulated? Does it mean the solution is to strive for the reduction of our population? Or, are there other solutions?
Our guest next week makes a well-substantiated case that this scarcity mindset is part of the problem, not the solution. He contends that the way some leaders and others are thinking about it have it all wrong.
On Monday, Marian Tupy, a co-author of the bestselling book Superabundance, will join us to burst the myth that the world is overpopulated. Through his work, he has demonstrated that as the world’s population has grown, humankind has actually become more abundant.
Marian is the founder and editor of HumanProgress.org, and a senior fellow at the Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity at the Cato Institute. He is the coauthor of: The Simon Abundance Index, Ten Global Trends Every Smart Person Should Know: And Many Others You Will Find Interesting, and Superabundance: The Story of Population Growth, Innovation, and Human Flourishing on an Infinitely Bountiful Planet.
